Moseley Festival: Music by Candlelight July 2008 |
Hi Folks
If you have a couple of hours spare this coming Tuesday, I hope you can make it to Moseley village for a soothing, enriching and engaging evening of music as part of the Moseley Festival.
The venue is the beautiful Church right on the central cross roads in Moseley Village - St Marys - in case youve not yet been inside, its a remarkable venue, not least when lit by candlelight as it will be as the evening sunshine fades during the course of the concert.
I'll be playing a set of all new piano music - mostly written on my recent visit to Australia and Robert Zhilmor will play some hauntingly beautiful solo flute pieces (some inspired by the Chinese practice of Falun Dafa). There will also be a short set of ethereal Anglican Church Music (Thomas Tallis may well feature) and finally the stunning Aashiq al Rasul will perform an acoustic set. These guys are truly inspiring musicians - wonderful to listen to and a real testament to what can be achieved with nothing but voices and some hand held percussion.
Theres no door charge tho one of us will be passing the proverbial hat around at the end of the evening.Â
A free glass of orange juice will keep you well lubricated in the interval.
Doors will be open from 7.30 for an 8pm start and we should be all done by 10pm, hopefully all feeling that little bit calmer and happier for sharing some fine music together in a fantastic building.
